NOT WHY, OR HOW, BUT WHEN

BANZAI7: Wall Street has successfully converted the markets into a giant computer game. Sooner than later the people who really design and play computer games and write code for a living are going to want "summa dat stuff."

You better believe they are working on this already and using their treasury hoard for live simulation.

Wall Street have also converted the "high touch" aspect of investment banking (i.e., relationships and business analytics into a binary war game (greens vs reds)).  What barrier now excludes the brains in Silicon Valley from entering the game? Once you take the back slapping and strippers out of the equation, all you are left with is Moore's Law.
