Very.Idiotic.Politico

BANZAI7 NEWS--Sen. Christopher Dodge didn't violate Senate ethics rules when refinancing two loans through Countrywide Financial Corp. and there is "no credible evidence" that he knowingly accepted a special rate through a VIP program, Senate investigators said Friday.

But in absolving Mr. Dodge, the chairman of the Senate Banking Committee, the Senate Select Committee on ethics said he should have shown better judgment in order to avoid getting caught.

"Once you became aware that your loans were in fact being handled through a program with the name 'V.I.P.' that should have raised red flags for you," the panel said in a letter to Mr. Dodge dated Friday.

"These kinds of loans are available all the time in Zimbabwe," said Senator Dodge. "I am just another Very Important Politician who should get very important treatment from the people he oversees."
