GM COMES BACK FROM THE FUTURE

Hummer?

BANZAI7 DETROIT BUREAU--In a reversal, General Motors plans to resurrect the Pontiac G8 and keep it in its revised lineup under a new, but familiar, name: Chevrolet Caprice.

Confirmation came in an interview with Bob Klutz, also just wheeled back into GM's top management lineup, according to Automobile magazine. "The last time we looked at (the G8), we decided that we would continue to import it as a Chevrolet," Klutz is quoted as saying. "It is kind of too good to waste."

Detroit sources confirm that the center of GMs plan is to bring back most of the old GM lineup under the "two good to waste" mantra. Hummer is also expected to be reintroduced shortly as the Chevy Corvair. Former CEO Rick Wagoneer is expected to be reintroduced as the Chevy "Wagoneer". "With gas at $2.50, this sure beats innovation."
