SIGNS OF THE TIMES

BANZAI7 NEWS--Red and yellow lights shone from the top of the Empire State Building at dusk Wednesday, a capitalist tribute to communist China's 60th anniversary and a giant beacon calling on all wealthy Chinese tourists to visit the city with streets jam packed with wealthy Chinese tourists scooping up merchandise made in China.

To commemorate the 60th Anniversary, McDonald's announced it will not change the color scheme of the golden arches and plans to sell 60 billion burgers made in China.

Meanwhile the NYT reports: Many economists expect China to replace Japan as the world’s second-largest economy next year, five years earlier than previously forecast.

Japanese officials can't help wondering whether it is better to manufacture and export cheap products using cheap labor or to manufacture cheap burgers using cheap local labor and then exporting the profits. Plans for McSushi are on the drawing board. Prime Minister SukiYaki said: We hope McSushi is a better Japanese idea because local cooks are not be needed.
