MEET ZHU ZHU THE TOXIC CHINESE HAMSTER TOY THAT COULD NEVER BE DESIGNED AND MANUFACTURED BY AMERICAN ENGINEERS

BANZAI7 NEWS--Fuzzy, electronic toy hamsters called Zhu Zhu Pets are flying off the shelves at major outlets like Walmart and Toys "R" Us. Demand for the pets is so high that Zhu Zhus, which retail for $8 at Walmart, are going for $60 on secondary-market sites like Amazon.com and eBay.com.

Zhu Zhu Pets hamsters have also been found to be unsafe and possibly toxic. The Zhu Zhu Pets hamsters apparently have a higher-than-allowed level of a chemical called antimony, which could lead to health problems in children. The consumer group that did the review of the product also found dangerous levels of tin in the product as well.

According to the Good Guide Consumer Group, antimony is a metal that has health effects that include possible cancer, lung, and heart problems and could also impact fertility.

Chinese authorities have protested pointing out that the Zhu Zhu package is clearly labeled with the following warning: ATTENTION: ZHU ZHU TOXIC HAMSTER FRIEND IS NOT REALLY ALIVE AND SHOULD NOT BE EATEN BY CHILDREN UNDER FIVE.
